I've ever encountered" - Brad Konia
Creating apps with dbFramework is as simple as defining hierarchical categories and clicking publish. Watch how we create an Invoice Manager in seconds. Or check out this video where we create a Help Desk application in 2 minutes. dbFramework sets a new standard in rapid application development. It's the database that businesses have needed for years.
To show you just how dbFramework works we give you the source to several quality sample apps to check out. Download them, use them, customize them. Tear them apart, use bits, rebuild them. It's up to you.
Editing workflow is as easy as writing out a questionnaire. But it's far more powerful than that: You can just as easily use the workflow to structure multiple, complex decisions and data routing that stretch across your entire organization - even between offices.
Combine the workflow with optional scripting at each stage, and there's no limit to what business processes you can implement.
Check out this demo where we create a Help Desk app using the workflow designer in just 2 minutes.
The vast majority of the time, you won't need it. But when you do need to add special business processing, DbfScript is a simple but powerful scripting language that can be edited right inside the browser. With a simple, comprehensive set of commands, it's easy enough for non-programmers to use and rich enough for even seasoned developers to feel right at home.
dbFramework's event-driven architecture allows you to add scripts anywhere in the system to catch changes to the data, and then impose rules or perform calculations.
If you already know other languages such as .Net or PHP, you can easily leverage those skills too - check out our integration features.

Every application created with dbFramework integrates a full text search engine, that feels just like Google. In fact we use the Lucene engine - the same engine used by Wikipedia.
Search across the entire application, or from your current location downwards. Alternatively use the Find option to enter search terms for specific fields, or perform a quick filter using triple-click grouping.
All information stored in dbFramework applications is extremely easy to find.
The best part is you get this for free - without any complex setup, it just works.

dbFramework offers two kinds of reports. Quick Reports (to the left) let you create great looking reports quickly - just point and click the fields you want to include, even hierarchical data. Custom Reports let you have complete freedom over the layout, by using Microsoft Word (or a compatible word processor) to design the report template.
With a single setting, any report can be subscribed to, so that the application can generate and send that report to the user's inbox each day.
Often you don't need to design a report at all: Make any date field a 'Due Date' and dbFramework will create a schedule report for you, showing you all records' due dates grouped by upcoming months.
Reports can be generated as HTML or PDF, and can also be generated as XML for further processing.

Getting started with dbFramework is made even easier with the help of built-in tutorials that take you, step by step, through creating applications.
But better still: You can create tutorials for your own applications. Just select which screen the user should go to, what they should enter, and help them step by step in learning to use your application. No programming required.
This feature alone saves vast amounts of time in training your users.
dbFramework applications are not islands. Not only can you easily integrate data from your applications into spreadsheets, but you can even have that data update in realtime as it changes in the application!
As well as Excel integration, all dbFramework applications automatically support a full AJAX interface for integration into web pages, as well as an XML API, .Net SDK and script plugin (eg. PHP) that makes it very easy to leverage other languages and platforms to further enrich your application, or integrate legacy business logic.
Watch the video above for a demonstration of how powerful our Excel add-in is.
dbFramework has been used to create many different types of applications. From loan and collateral management systems managing millions of dollars each day, to online adventure games. To accommodate this, we have a very flexible approach to licensing.
There are three ways to use dbFramework applications:
- Anonymously: If you use the application as a guest user, you can have free control over the whole application. If you enable this option, you won't pay a dime.
- Casual User: If you login to the application, you will be able to create items, run actions, run workflow, run reports and delete items. This type of license is also completely free.
- Power User: However if you need to login and directly edit a record without going through workflow, then you will need a 'Power User' license. For dbFramework Express this is just $99 per login. That's all we ask.
For such an amazingly rich development platform, this is incredible value.
We are also beta testing a hosted version of dbFramework that lets you create your applications and run them entirely in the cloud. Contact us to apply to enter the beta program.
